What if you met your true love and you find out you could never get her? That is what this new movie with Daniel Radcliff in the lead is about.
I went to the cinema yesterday to see the movie What If and for the second time in two years I was accompanied by a girl, not just that it was the same girl who were with me to watch The Silver Lining Playbook. (note this is not from the movie but a implicit joke).
Well I was actually pretty excited about this movie, it was the first thing I had come to see with Daniel since I saw the last Harry Potter movie. My expectations were therefore shaken cause I did not know what to expect for this experience. Thus the plot line was intriguing, I will say Daniel was the big pull for me ells I would probably have missed it between all the others. So therefore back to the movie. The movie is full of weird black and some kind of morbid humour but done so great it is really hard to feel violated by it. The humour is nearly as British as it can get in (for once) the pretty scenery of Toronto, Canada (and a little Dublin). I found the plot hard to guess thus it is pretty much as described in the first line here. Our main character is heartbroken, meets this girl who he after months of solitude connects with, but she have a boyfriend and she asks of our protagonist that they be friends and nothing more than friends. So on goes the movie, it is not a heart warming movie that makes you cry through it all, it have romance, it have humour and best of all it give us with the lonely souls, who is stock in the friendzone hope for that everything will be al right.
I will give it four stars out of five, for it have beautiful artistic and humorous sides running along with the poetic and romantic sides.
Now I am really looking forward to see Daniels next movie called Horns.
As a last comment I will say that sometime in the movie Daniel talks about time travels and in that moment he have a certain Doctor Who-ish vibe over him and I think he could be a good Doctor.
