Outlander - Series Review

Outlander is a dark and gritty historical fiction show about a 27 year old World War II war nurse who is sent 200 years back in time. Here she is trapped trying to figure out how to survive and how to get back to her old life. The story is placed in Scotland and in the war between England and Scotland. In the first episode they spoil big plot points later on in the story, which is also on the only time it feels like they have planned out what will happen later on. The rest of the episodes have a feeling of the writers caring for one episode at a time and not thinking of what should happen later on. This feeling makes the episodes seem like the writers always wanting to make it more interesting and hardcore as the show goes on. Which may also be why season one starts out as PG-13 and ends out as R-rating. The show have violence, nudity, sex, adultery, killing and rape of both men and women. It have a some point correct depiction of how the time was back in the 18th century.

I think the series was semi okay. Personally I will give it a rating on 2.5 stars as it have some good elements but overall it was not my cup of tea. If I should be more objective I give it a rating on 4 because it is well made, great costumes and great acting. Plus there is hours and hours of fantastic Scottish accent and Gaelic language which is pretty cool.
