This is a movie about one of Newt Scamander's adventures around the world to understand the magical creatures. The story takes places in the year 1926 which is 64 years before Harry Potter's birth and under the thread of Geller Grindelwald. Newt arrives in New York with a magical suitcase filled with strange magical creatures in his care. At the same time mysterious events is taking place in the streets of New York. This creates trouble as some of Newt's creatures escapes from his suitcase and the Magical Congress of the United States of America blames (MACUSA) the events on Newt.
The movie is one magical adventures with lots of beautiful effects and beautiful creatures. It gives a new dimension to the whole universe as the Harry Potter series have mainly been in the geographically location of England and now it shows how New York was before Harry. Plus it values the magical creatures a great deal more than in the Harry Potter series and shows us some of all the creatures that Harry was taught about but we hear so little about. I believe that half of this movie's intention was to show of all the creatures and the other half was to show more of the world.
Though we know little about the character Newt Scarmander from the books (J.K. probably have all his aspects scribbled down) I think Eddie Redmayne is truly Newt. Eddie have understood his character and performs him perfect showing every true aspect of Newt and from he first step into the movie it is clear to see that Newt Scarmander is a Hufflepuff man and all Hufflepuffer should be proud of him.
Colin Farrell plays a big part of the movie as the MACUSA auror Percival Graves, important man, sadly he once is not allowed to talk with his real accent. I like his accent.
Johnny Depp makes an appearance in the movie, which I was surprised by and if there comes more movies (which I think I remember have been told there will, do not hang me up on this) I hope to see him some more. But Helena Bonham Carter is playing as Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter movies, which means that this is a universe where they can not have a tragic love story together (joke on their movie carrier together) I need a badum tss here.
All in all this is a fantastic movie with lots of beautiful creatures and effects. It does not have the same rich background in books like the Harry Potter movies, which made it more free but also a little shallower in depth. This makes the movie feel a little different from the others but not bad. I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars, I have no real critique and it did all it was suppose to do.
