Smurfs: The Lost Village - Movie Review

Earlier this April the latest Smurf movie was released. Smurfs: The Lost Village is a new reboot of the Smurf comics, unrelated to the live action Smurf movies with Neal Patrick Harris.
This movie is putting Smurfette, Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty in the leading roles. Smurfette is a little  blue about not knowing her special skill like all the other Smurfs know theirs. So Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty tries to cheer her up with some forest boarding or smurfing to be punny. Smurfette gets caught by a wind and led out to a big wall at the edge of the forbidden forest where she sees a Smurf like creature run into the forbidden forest. Smurfette finds a yellow-ish Smurf hat, just seconds before she gets caught by Gargamel, which leads to him finding out about the approximate location of a Smurf village. Resulting in a race between Smurfette, Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty and Gargamel on who can get to the Smurf village first to either warn them or capture them.
The story have morals like "it is not your maker that decides who you are, but your actions" and "don't try to be anyone ells, the best person you can be, is yourself". Which are good story morals for "kids" movie.
Unlike the movies with Neal Patrick Harris, this Smurf movie is more in stile with the old Smurf comics and cartoons, bringing back the good old Smurf feeling. It is beautiful animated and the forbidden forest is artistic and creative. It got a good story and is a lot of fun for the whole family. But when that is said, I will only give it four stars for I think it lacks that WOW factor. It was everything that I expected but needs that je ne sais qoui.

Here at the end I will just note that technically Smurfette is not a Smurf but more a Golem, she is clay that have been brought alive with magic to do the bidding of her master. But Papa Smurf gave her free will and freed her from Gargamel's powers. Clay have been said is very absorbent to magic, which makes Golems almost immune towards magic and this is also seen in the movie.
