Spider-man Homecoming - Movie Review

Tom Holland is our newest Spiderman and the third real life version, having to follow Tobey Maguire, who we all grew up with, and Andrew Garfield who also did quite amazing. Tom Holland is, unlike the others, quite close to the age he play and is the youngest Spiderman so far. He got all of that boyish charm and teenage awkwardness that comes with being fifteen and in high school. He is young, hopeful and ready to save the world. But need and seeks the guidance of a more experienced hero. At the same time he also want to prove himself and get recognized for his work and abilities but ultimately bringing people in danger.
The different Spidermen progressively brings more humour and fun to the movies and this is the funniest real life Spiderman that have been made. If I should rank my favourite Spidermen with both movies and series. I would say number 1 is Spectacular Spiderman because it feels like the story that is most true to the comics. Number 2 is Tom Holland because he did a great job, really funny and teenagely awkward. Number 3 is Ultimate Spiderman, it is a good cartoon and works great as an alternative universe. Number 4 is Andrew Garfield he brings focus on Spidermans technical genius and the science side and Number 5 is Tobey Maguire and this may be unpopular, but I find the acting a bit boring and emo-like and if it had not been for growing up with him he probably would stand a chance against the others.
I am a fan of the new Spiderman and is looking forward for the next movie and to see him in Infinity war and maybe other Marvel movies. But we have now arrived to the nitpicking part. Two strong characteristics of Spiderman is his spider sense and the fourth wall break but they seem to have left it out or at least massively underplayed it. There is a bit in the start, where he records himself, that is close to call it fourth wall break but well it is not. Secondly I think that they have forced Flash Thompson into this movie, original he was the white boy, star athlete jock that bullies Peter for personal reasons. Now Flash is a small nerdy looking bully that apparently is part of the decathlon team even though he is really dumb. Flash is so dumb that it feels like they putted him on the team because that is the only way we get to see him interact with Peter. I say that they should have cut Flash or kept him in his jock role.
I also have to defend the movie and some of the choices they have made. Many have complained about black washing and yeah there is a larger ethnic diversity in this movie than there have been in the earlier movies but we should also remember that the movie is happening in Queens where there in 2014 were under 50 percent white people. So yeah a current version of Spiderman would contain a larger number of ethnicities than older movies. And that is why Flash is coloured (I do not know his ethnicity). And people have complained about MJ being black, though I would hardly even describe her as black. But for this we need to remember that this MJ is a completely different MJ. All the other MJs have the full name Mary Jane Watson, where our new MJ is called Michelle something.
So to sum it up, great movie, very funny, something is underplayed and MJ is another MJ. Four and a half star out of five.
