The Defenders - Series Review

I have been looking forward for The Defenders since I first searched Marvel in Netflix's search field before the first Daredevil season and saw that they were about to make it. I did not know what I expected but I sure was expecting big things.
The Defenders is the culmination of the four separate heroes series; Daredevil. Iron fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. The four heroes are joining forces to rid Hell's Kitchen of an evil force. The first couple of episodes are great, how the heroes meet and form a team but later in the episodes it starts to feel more like the series should just have been Iron Fist season two instead of The Defenders. The Defenders starts right where Iron Fist stops the first season and just rolls from there.
It was an okay series; the fights was a little chaotic and sometimes poorly made, Gao could have used more special effects. Jessica Jones was sadly redundant throughout most of the series, though I find her as one of the best characters, it was hard to find a reason why she kept to the team. It even seemed like the writers had trouble keeping her in the team, except it was promised. The series could have used a few more episodes between the team getting together and the team going against the final boss. The team could have used a midway boss or enemy group to practice against. It would have been cool to see the team face The Wrecking Crew or some other low level group, maybe as hired thugs or just a random encounter. But no they had to rush it through the eight episodes. And last, the heroes loved ones are supposed to stay in the police station but somehow it is unimportant to actually make them be there. Some episodes the friends are there and some they are gone and then they are there again an episode later.
The story is fine and it got a lot of humour but it is short. I'll give it three and a half star out of five. It could have been more and better, but it could certainly also have been a lot worse. This just makes me expect even more and better from future seasons of all their shows and more collaborations between series.
