The Mist - Series Review

Stephen King's The Mist have been remade as a series ten years after it was made as a movie. It is years since I saw the movie and I have not read the book. So I can not say how much the series deviates from  the story. But the plot of the series is like this: A young sweet sixteen year old girl goes to a party with her "gay" (I do not know the 2017 technical term for his sexuality) best friend to hang out with her crush. At this party the girl is raped and the following day a mystical mist is appearing and covers the whole town. When moving about in the mist, people tend to die in horrible ways and suddenly the whole town have been invaded by undercover military people. Now everyone tries to survive, fighting the mist, each other and starvation.
I do not know much about Stephen King's stories, but I can compare this story to the television series Under The Dome and I ask myself how many of Stephen King's stories is built like those; A seemingly peaceful town where something mystical suddenly happens that kills people in horrible ways forcing people scavenge and survive. Then it turns out that nearly everyone in town is slightly crazy and carries a deep dark secret, creating a lot of drama and tension. So the people starts to secretly kill each other to protect themselves, while the military is doing something weird and a secret group of people seems to know way too much about what is happening. Does he have more stories like this?
Well what I know is that, I found the story a little slow. It could have used a little more suspense from time to time, maybe put a little more horror into the mist. Except for a few scenes, people mostly just disappeared in the mist and then reappeared dead. It also needed a little more tension between the survivors, they did not seem to fear for their lives or care about the lack of food.
I will give it three stars out of five. It is a good plot, I like a good survival story. But it needs more tension and suspense.
