Cars 3 - Movie Review

The third Cars movie have been released, reviving the franchise after a limp second movie. It is the classic story about what happens after you reach the top. Lightning have become the best racecar of his time and now the new generation gets on the track. Lightning does the best he can but the new young racers are better and faster than he could ever be. So Lightning pushes himself to the limits resulting in a terrible accident forcing him to take a hard look on his life. From there it is a fight for his return to the race world.
It is a deep emotional story about lost and broken dreams. But it is filled with a lot of humour. I laughed through the entire movie. It gets a little political by pulling the gender issue but it fits great into the story and could easily have been made this way in an era with another political agenda. All in all the story is fitting, feels natural gives a good follow up to the first movie.
The movie is close to equal with the first Cars movie and way better than the second. The animations have gotten better, they are more smooth than before. It is a great and funny story with a good plot. I will give it four stars out of five. I have no reason for not giving it five, it just do not feel like a five. It would maybe have hit harder if the crash was not spoiled in the commercials and marketing process. And could maybe have used a more catchy soundtrack, the first Cars movie got good use of Life is a Highway.
