Altered Carbon - Series Review

Netflix have become a solid producer of quality series, with good plots, high-end cinematography and amazing visual effects. So it probably does not come as a shock, that they made another great series.
Altered Carbon is set in a futuristic world, where death and ageing is reduced to a concept for the poor. Everyone can for the right money buy the body they want and if it get damaged they can just buy a new one. Your mind is uploaded in a hard disk and can even be uploaded to the cloud and downloaded again when needed. The rich prolong their lives for ever and control the world for their own gains. While the poor gets treated like trash and can hardly afford the body they are born in. One of the wealthiest men in the world find himself murdered and plays with his money to bring back a highly trained terrorist with special detective abilities to solve the murder.
The plot sounds a bit confusing at first, but we get eased into it at a moderate rate. It is an attempt to depict what a capitalistic world where people can live forever, looks like. But it is very little we see of society beside what is relevant for the case. The plot is great and inventive with a few unsuspected twists. And as mentioned in the start, it got great cinematic and visual effects plus the acting is not bad either. It contains surprisingly high amount of nudity, mostly unnecessary nudity, but they have managed to unsexualize the nudity, where many other series fails.
It is a great series and unless you have problems with human genitalia, it is worth a watch. The story is a bit one-sided and though people will ask for a second season, I think the story is already quite finite. Because of the story's one-sideness I will only give it four stars out of five.
