Black Panther - Movie Review

Black Panther has become one of the highest rated movies on Rotten Tomatoes and disliking the movie get you called a racist by people on the internet. To spoil the review already, I liked the movie but it is not some great black empowerment like half of Twitter wants it to be. And now it is time for me to defend my statement.
Black Panther or Prince T'Challa of Wakanda return home to get crowned king of the collected tribes in Wakanda after his father King T'Chaka died during Captain America Civil War. Following tribal traditions, each tribe and members of the royal family are allowed to challenge the new king for the throne and the power of the Black Panther. Only the Jabari, the Gorilla tribe, takes the challenge and T'Challa has to fight M'baku the White Gorilla, T'Challa wins and is crowned King. T'Challa's first act as King is to seek out and bring back Ulysses Klaue to make him pay for a crime against Wakanda. But the mission fails and a stranger arrives to Wakanda with Klaue in a body bag and wants to claim the throne.
The main plot is a monarchistic story with intrigues, betrayal and national conflict, with an inverse revenge story as subplot. The different nuances of the plot is a bit cut thin, there is both intrigues, betrayal and national conflict, but only just enough to continue the flow of the story. The movie is deceivingly great, you will not notice the lack of depth because of how well made the visual effects and the acting is. Like most of the movies in the MCU, the visual effects is fantastic, with exceptions of a few action scenes where the effects is a bit over-dramatic.
The movie is not black empowerment but just well made through a storytelling perspective. Yes most of the actors in the movie is black, but that is what is expected from a story unfolding in an African tribe with little to no contact to the rest of the world. It is not some kind of Malcolm X or Martin Luther King with black people overcoming adversity and hardship to succeed in a world that wants them no good. This is just plainly a superhero origin story with a monarch twist, like Thor but with "science" instead of magic.
But when this is said, the movie is great and well made, I will give it four stars out of five. It should have been one or two hours longer to really get the depth but that is a problem many movies can experience. And just to clarify, you are not a racist for not liking this movie, unless you dislike this for having too many black people, then you are probably a racist.
