This new series with Debby Ryan as the lead role Patty Bladell, is about people being completely insatiable about a single aspect of their life.
It starts with a young overweight high school girl, Patty Bladell, with no father and an alcoholic mother. She eats to feed a deep hole inside her and following gets bullied for being fat. At one bad day where she is feeling down and hurt, a homeless man tries to take her comforting chocolate bar and in self defense she punch him the face. He responds by breaking her jaw and s
uing her for assault. And from here her life cross paths with the colourful lawyer and pageant trainer Bob Armstrong. She is now thin and beautiful from being unable to eat solid foods for six month and Bob feel an instantaneous connection with her as he also knows what it is like to be formerly fat. Bob wants to train Patty to be a pageant girl and Patty who for the first time in her life feels beautiful in the eyes of a man becomes obsessively smitten by him.
Insatiable is a drama series and every episode gets filled with more drama than the one before. You could almost say that the series is insatiable with drama, I do not think they will arrive to a point where they can not add more drama. There are many ways of being insatiable and this series shows several versions and degrees and as the series shows that the feeling of being insatiable can both be a great motivator and force to drive you through your life or it can be a misinterpret feeling and even an addiction that can ruin your life. If you do not know exactly what you hunger for, you will never be truly satisfied by the attempt to feed the hole. Just as the series depicts.
Insatiable puts focus on many important social problems, like obesity, obsession, bullying, being insatiable and more. It is a fun drama series but with the increasing amount of drama, I may not return and watch season two comes. I do not think I can take that much drama. I give it four stars out of five for being a good slightly innovative drama series.
