The Predator: The Hunt Has Evolved - Movie Review

A predator is on the run from another spaceship and crash land on earth, where it attacks group snipers. The sniper Quinn McKenna survives the encounter and escapes with a predator helmet and gauntlet just before the military arrives. Quinn sends the alien technology to a PO box before the military catches him in order to silence him. While Quinn is being interrogated the alien technology arrive at his wife's house where his autistic son gets a hold of it thinking it is a new toy. Dr. Casey Bracket an evolutionary biologist gets hired by the military to help understand the captured predator. Casey request to meet Quinn and he gets transported to the hidden military base where Casey studies the predator. But the predator escapes and kills most of the scientists, not Casey. The military gets an order to execute Casey as she now contains information of the predator but luckily Quinn arrives just in time to save her. Now the hunt is on; the predator is out to collects its belongings, the military needs to capture the predator and silence anybody who contains knowledge of the predator, Quinn is out to save his son with the help of a group of unstable ex military guys and Casey. But wait there is more, the predator had taken a trip to earth in order to give them a weapon to use against predators and an even bigger predator arrives to kill the first predator and retrieve the weapon.
It is a long and somewhat complicated plot and sometimes confused. Like if the first predator intends to give a predator killer weapon to the humans, why would his/hers first action be to kill humans? That is quite a counter productive plan. If you have a soldier that survives an encounter with a predator, why not bring him in to debriefing and hire him to lead the action team against the predator? It is surely wise to claim his is insane and lock him up instead. The human weapons are 90% of the time highly ineffective, the predator just takes all the shots but they keep shooting, why not create better weapons. They have had over 30 years to create predator killing weapons. Dr. Casey is introduced as evolutionary biologist with not much more to her background and then all of sudden she is super badass with no explanation why. The team of ex military men got different mental disorder and Quinn's son is autistic, but during the movie the sort of forget to keep track of their ticks, triggers and idiosyncrasies.
So all in all it is confused, it could have used a revision and it wants to do more than it is capable of. It is cool they want to show mental disorders that soldier fight with, but keep it going, do not let it magically disappear. When all that is said and done, I need to mention the positive parts of the movie. The predators and space technology is well made. It is visually pleasing, just do not waste money on watching it in 3D, that is unnecessary. I will give it two stars out of five, if you really want to watch do it but ells just wait for it to come on some streaming services.
