Christopher Robin - Movie Review

Christopher Robin went to boarding school, grew up, fell in love, went to war, got a child, got a job and forgot all about Winnie The Pooh and all the other friends from the Hundred Acre Wood. This is the set up for the movie. Christopher is working as an efficiency expert and has to optimise Winslow Luggages by 20 percent. He is so stressed and focused on work that he has no time for his family. He has to stay back in London and let his family go on a weekend to the country side without him. And his daughter Madeline is fearing he hates her and that is why he wants to send her to boarding school. At the same time Pooh wakes up in the Hundred Acre Wood without any trace of his friends and scared he goes to Christopher to get help.
Christopher Robin is a lovely family movie about remembering the good things in life and focus on the things that makes you happy. It is both funny, melancholy and full of love. Pooh and his friends brings a lot of our childhood back with their lovely personalities. I can not say if the newer generations will love the movie. But I am quite sure that anyone who has grown up with Winnie The Pooh will love the movie from beginning to end.
It is well made with lots of emotions and attention to detail. Pooh and his friends are well animated. At first I was a little sceptical by the choice of design for Pooh and the others as I am used to the soft yellow figure. But as the movie progresses it is becomes perfectly clear that it is the right choice. It is only the child actors who at some points seem a little off. But all in all it is a lovely movie and I will give it five stars.
