Sex Education - Series Review

Otis, the son of an overly protective and intrusive sex therapist is living a quite life in school. He keeps his head down until one day when the principle's son, Adam, is having sex related problems with his girlfriend. Otis together with Maeve, the cool bad girl, finds Adam sitting in an abandoned bathroom in pain from using too much viagra and is in need of help. They to help Adam both with his viagra problem and with his girlfriend. Maeve is impressed by Otis' knowledge and suggest that they start a business together, helping the youth with all their sex and relationship problems.
This is a recipe for a fun teenage drama that also does some real talk about bodies, relationships, sex and more. It also got all the classic high school stereotypes and many of the classic subplots; like the bully and the gay guy, the will they wont they relationship, the son that just wants his fathers love and the jock that gets pushed too hard. But unlike most American teen drama series it has less focus on drugs and racism and more focus on sex and puberty. Which is a refreshing British twist on the teenage high school drama that we love.
I have earlier claimed that the series Big Mouth should be used in teaching sex ed for it talks about many important issues about body development. This series has not gone in depth with menstruation, acne and other bodily topics like that but it would be just as important and useful to use in sex ed classes. For it talks a lot about respect, consent, emotions, sexual problems and the importance of talking with each other. I will give this series five out of five stars. It is fun, educational, well made and I am looking forward for more seasons. Also even though it shows boobs and sex, it does it in such an innocent and non-sexualised way that normalises the view of the naked body.
