How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World - Movie Review

After two movies, four short films and two series, one is two seasons long and the other is six seasons. We have arrived to the final chapter of How to Train Your Dragon. A story about Hiccup, the son of a chieftain, who was too scrawny to be a Viking and fight against dragons. Instead he learned how to train and befriend dragons and changing the way of life for his entire tribe. But not all saw this new harmonic life with dragons as a good thing and they tried to destroy Hiccup, his people and their dragons.
In this third movie Hiccup has become chieftain and his dragon, Toothless, is the King of dragons. They try to create an utopia for dragons and humans and protect it against dragon poachers. But as their utopia grows with every dragon they rescue so does the threat of being attacked. And the poachers hires a dragon killer, specialised in killing Night furies, the type Toothless is. With this new enemy approaching, Hiccup decides that it is time to find a new home and with his entire village they flies out to find a hidden dragon world from the old legends.
Just like the earlier movies this is a perfect family movie with many fun and exciting moments but also with some heartfelt and even sad moments. The entire franchise is a wonderful story in a vast well-created world and this third movie brings a good ending to the story. It is beautiful animated and makes you want to explore the world on your own.
But I found the bad guy boring. His motives for hunting down every Night Fury in existence was because he killed one as a boy and got praised for it so he decided to kill them all. There was no personal trauma, no emotional backstory and no real drive behind. He just wanted to kill them all because he had killed one. In the later years it have been very popular to give the bad guy a deep  heartfelt and sympathetic backstory. But that is not the case in this movie.
I will give this wonderful ending to an exciting story full of dragons and wonders a good four stars out of five. It is well-made, the plot is good and it got a lot of emotions. But the bad guy is boring and a good story needs a good bad guy.
