Jumanji: The Next Level - Movie Review

It is over a year since the four friends saved Jumanji. They have now left high school and ventured out to different parts of the world to start the next chapter in their lives. They are all thriving or all except Spencer who is having a hard time on his own in New York. They decided to meet up in the Christmas vacation to finally see each other again. But the night before Spencer talks with his grandpa. Feeling down, inadequate and disillusioned by life Spence finds the pieces of the broken Jumanji games and decides to try and repair it. And as Martha, Bethany and Fridge meets up, Spencer is nowhere to be found.
Jumanji Next Level does not only take the characters into new levels of the games but also quite generally takes the story, action and intensity to a new level. With new levels and new characters comes new challenges and that means a lot of new comically and funny situations. It is a real family action comedy movie that everyone can enjoy. But it is also a very silly and predictable movie. Of course silly is to be expected with a premise like this and following its prequels. And with a family friendly movie you are quite sure that when they have only one life left they are not going to die again. Never the less it is very fun and enjoyable to watch.
It is just as beautiful as the last with many unique surroundings and good special effects. Some of the characters movements are very excessive and unnatural which looks funky. But given the context is that they are humans in the bodies of video game characters who have odd and extraordinary abilities and weaknesses it seems fitting with these funky movements. The movie is very good and easy equals the last if not better. The only thing I am sad about is that Robin Williams is able to see and be a part of this. He is such a big symbol for the original movie. He was referenced in the last movie but in this there was nothing. Just as with the last movie I will give this one four out of five stars. It is fun, exciting and a really good movie to watch.
Also since it takes place during the Christmas holidays it is technically a Christmas movie. So Merry Christmas all.
