Sonic The Hedgehog - Movie Review

Sonic, a blue hedgehog with super speed powers, is sent through a magicalLi ring portal to earth where he was told to hide his existence. But one day as Sonic is dealing with some emotional turmoil he accidentally releases a huge electro magnetic burst that creates a large black out. The US Department of Defence enlists Doctor Robotnik to investigate the situation and Robotnik quickly learns of Sonic's existence. Sonic tries to leave the world through a magical ring portal but accidentally opens a portal to San Francisco and drops his bag of magical rings through the portal. Now he has to travel all the way to San Francisco to recollect his rings so he can leave this world before Robotnik captures him.
First off I think it is important that we make a notice of how the producers listened to the fans when they strongly verbalized their dissatisfaction. After the first trailer got released many was less than happy about the animated version of Sonic and voiced their opinions on the internet. The producers took this to heart and redid the animations. We are all very pleased that they choose to listen, it was very nice of them. But even though they redid the animations I think I saw a few moments during the movie where the old animation slipped through. I am not completely sure of this though.
It is a good movie with many funny jokes and moments. It got some good slow motion scenes though as every other movie super speed slow motion scenes it seems like they can never really decide on the relative speed proportions between the speed user and everything else. Like in one scene Sonic runs so fast that missiles completely stops moving in the air but at the same time Robotnik was still moving. And also in one scene Sonic plays around with a speed trap making a speed of three hundred miles per hour which he seemed quite pleased with achieving but at the same time he is able to run so fast that he can be two places at once or even "stop time".
I am not a Sonic expert; I have never played any of the games and only watched very little of the series Sonic X. So I do not know how the story compares to the original stories but it seems like a good plot. There is just the thing about the last fight, it is really anti-climactic. It felt like they did not know how to make it a cool and dramatic fight scene. And not to mention that Jim Carrey is a really great choice to a character like Robotnik. He looks even greater at the very end when they teases the sequel. He really gets the perfect Robotnik look with the bold head and the big bushy moustache.
As an extra little gimmick they included the "Sanic Hegehog" meme in the movie. A funny little detail for the memers out on the internet. I will give this movie four stars out of five. It got some details that in my opinion could have been better. But over all it is a good and fun movie and currently it might turn out to be the best video game adaption movie.
