Hubie Halloween - Movie Review

Hubie Dubois loves Halloween and every year he volunteers to patrol the streets and make it a safe and fun Halloween for everybody. Unfortunately most of the kids and adults in town dislikes and bullies Hubie for being a different and simple man. But this year it turns weirder; an inmate escapes the insane asylum, a strange man moves into the neighbour house and people disappears mysteriously. It is up to Hubie to find out what is happening and keeping everybody safe.

This new Netflix movie got the classic Adam Sandler charm that splits the audience in two. On one hand it is creative and fun with an interesting plot and on the other hand it is weird and stupid with Adam Sandler acting like a loon and making weird sounds. People mysteriously disappearing at Halloween while there is an insane asylum inmate on the loose is a strong horror setup. But Adam Sandler speaking with a goofy voice while doing stupid shit is a strong setup of a stupid comedy. Combined it could be a disaster but luckily Adam Sandler has mastered the art of making stupid comedies. It got many simple fart noise level jokes while also bringing some clever social commentary jokes. And in-between all that goofy weirdness and Halloween fun they bring some good wholesome moments to brighten up the day. It is probably the Halloween family movie of 2020.

I have already watched the movie twice in the three days it has been out. It got a good cast with many good old and younger actors and a good part of the Sandler family is part of this movie. And it looks like it was a fun movie to make, not only because the many funny actors and jokes in it but also because of the cool costumes and nice decorations. It really got that Halloween vibe. I will give this movie four out of five stars. It is good, fun and wholesome and I will probably watch it every coming October. If they had increased the suspense and intensity and removed about half of the fart level jokes it could probably have gotten five stars. But I am glad as it is. I find it important that we also have good fun and relaxing movies.
