When a military convoy transporting a dangerous object crashes into a newly wed couple driving away from Las Vegas. The accident leads to the start of a Zombie outbreak and Las Vegas becomes a city of dead. A business man hires a group of fortune seekers to execute a heist and recover two hundred million dollars from a vault under the city.
If you ever wondered what a heist would be like in a city of Zombies this movie is it. But then again these Zombies are not your ordinary feral slow rotting corps Zombies. These are brutal and fast super Zombies with a ruling Monarch and extensive communication ability. So it might not satisfy your Zombie horror need.
Army of The Dead has plenty of action and gore as expected from any Zombie movie. But that is all there is to this movie; Action and gore. The plot is nothing more than a simply heist movie. It tries to add some heartfelt dad and daughter relationship development but it gets undermined by the over arching theme of how greed will be ones doom. And though I like a good tragic ending, this ending is more to the pointless side. There is no teachable moment or silver lining or makes you cry. It just ends with a short set up for a second movie that plot wise will be irrelevant to this one.
For a heist movie it is quite good with great action. For a Zombie movie it could use a lot emotional depth and horror. Overall I will give this movie three stars as I did not find the plot and ending overall intriguing. But it still got good entertaining value as an action movie.
