Black Widow - Movie Review

Just after Civil War, Natasha Romanoff is on the run to avoid sharing the same fate as those who opposed the government control and supervision of heroes. She hides out in a safe house in Norway where she is soon found by a mysterious object, a high tech assassin and old family relations.

If you wanted to know more about who Black Widow is and what makes her such a great spy. Or maybe you just wanted to know what happened back in Budapest on the mission with Hawkeye. Then Black Widow is the movie you want to watch. It does not give you the entire play by play of the mission in Budapest but it gives you some highlights. But even more it gives you an insight in how Natasha was raised, some of the trials she had to go through before joining SHIELD and the Avengers and even how the choices she made carries weight through out her life in more than one way.

The Black Widow movie introduces some more characters to the MCU. Like Red Guardian; who is Russia's own version of Captain America. Yelena and Melina together with many other trained Black Widows. And Taskmaster; a mercenary with photographic memory and the ability to copy any movement made by a human. But they have made some slight changes to the classic Taskmaster. In order to explain just where in Taskmaster's abilities lie they have implanted a high tech chip into the skull and instead of being a cool mercenary, Taskmaster is enslaved with a form of mind control. And not only have they removed Taskmaster's personality, free will and chemical enhanced abilities, this mercenary was robbed of a good back story. But luckily there is chance for redemption for this character. Red Guardian, Melina and Yelena on the other hand was great characters with rich personality and background and it is very likely we will see Yelena as soon as the Hawkeye series.

Black Widow got a lot of action. Great fight scenes. A more humanized experience of Natasha. Is it the best MCU movie? Probably not. Even though the movie is two hours it has many things to introduce and set up. It felt like much of the story went over very smoothly and struggle free and then the juicy bits of the plot that explains what this movie would mean for the future of the MCU was comprised into the last twenty minutes. But never the less I will still give this movie four out five stars. Enjoyable with a lot of action.
